A Calabasa Cuia is the most authentic way to drink mate. Our Calabasa cuias are sourced from the Valley of Cuias Cooperative in Brasil, where the family Trevisol is preserving the tradition of producing cuias in an artisanal way. As each cuia is organic, they all vary slightly in color, shape and size. Cuias do require special curing and care, ask for advise from a matero if you are unsure. The art of mounting a cuia with a fresh green mate, once mastered, can lead to hours of a pleasurable mate drinking experience.
